Joe D Cruz - Sahitya Akademi Award for Korkai

Joe D Cruz of Thoothukudi won Sahitya Akademi Award for his 2009 Novel Korkai published by kalaichuvadu. Korkai Novel is about fishing hamlets of Uvari in Thoothukudi. He wrote a novel in 2005 called “Aazhi soozh ulagu” and this is about coastal issues. It is he who addressed the people in involved in fisheries as coastal people instead of fisherman.
