INDIAN
INSTITUTE OF MASS COMMUNICATION:
The 47th convocation ceremony and
the golden Jubilee celebrations of the Indian Institute of Mass communication
(IIMC) took place in New Delhi.
Prakash Javadekar in the function told that
INC would be upgraded in to a "Communication University". He conferred diplomas
to the qualified graduation students. The planning to upgrade Indian Institute
of Mass communication into communication University would be done by information
and Broadcasting university.
He insisted students to give importance for
ethical Journalism and to restrict sensationalism.
There are 6 centres of IIMC viz New Delhi,
Dhericanal, Aiswal (Misoram), Amaravati (Maharashtra), Jammu (J&k) and
Kottayam (Kerala). Put together from all institute, 341, students were awarded
with diplomas, 31 students received special awards for various
achievements.
The post graduation diplomas were meant for
Journalism, (Hindi and English), Advertising & Public relates, Oriya
Journalism. The minister also received the new logo created for the Golden
Jubilee function of IIMC.
