The Kerala government is mulling a legislation to monitor functioning of private technical and labour training institutes in the state, Minister for Labour and Rehabilitation Shibu Baby John told the Assembly.
Draft of the Bill is ready and the government will introduce it in the House soon, John said while replying to a calling attention of Hibi Eden (Congress).
The government will come out with a set of guidelines and these institutions would be brought under the control of State Council for Vocational Training, he said.
Admitting that the government did not have any data on the number of institutions that impart various vocational skills to students, John said a recent raid at some of these institutions had found that they were exploiting hapless students.
Eden said there was no check or control over these institutions and wanted the government to introduce a mandatory licensing system for these institutions.
