Puducherry: The issue of seat sharing with the government remained unresolved. Even after three rounds of talks with the management of the seven private medical colleges .
According to officials sources, two options were suggested at the meeting for the government to accept.
One was the private management would allot 250 seats as in the previous year for the government to sponsor students through the Centralized Admission Committee (Centac).
Under this, the government would reimburse the tution fee of the students applicable to them as per the Kamaraj Educational Assistance Scheme. The students will have to pay any additional fee levied by the colleges.
The second option was totally free seats. Under this, the management insisted they would part with only 150 to 175 seats and the CENTAC selected students need not pay any fee except the examination fee.
As of now, no decision was taken and the matter would be resolved in another round of talks in a couple of days, official sources said.
