As many as 2.05 lakh candidates have registered for the Common Admission Test (CAT) 2011 for admission to the prestigious IIMs and other B-schools.
The cities in which the highest number of candidates are scheduled to take the online test between October 22 and November 18 are New Delhi, Bangalore, Mumbai, Hyderabad and Pune, a statement issued by Prometric, which is to conduct the exam, said today.
"The CAT 2011 voucher sales ended on October 1, and about 2.06 lakh vouchers were sold. The CAT 2011 registration window ended at midnight on October 4 with approximately 2.05 lakh registered CAT aspirants," it said.
Last year 2.4 lakh candidates had registered for the test while in 2009 the registration figure was 2.48 lakh.
The statement said 73 per cent of the total number of candidates who have registered are male.
The test this year will have two sections instead of three earlier and students will have 70 minutes to answer each of them.
Prometric has said the next step for them after the registration is to prepare and check all testing locations to ensure candidates take the exam without difficulties.
"The candidates should also familiarise themselves with the test day procedures by viewing the video that is available from the CAT website," the statement said quoting managing director of Prometric India Soumitra Roy.
