New Delhi: SC warned Pvt unaided medical and dental colleges, that tough action would be taken if they violate holding 50% of the seats reserved for candidates joining through CET.
The issue arises in the apex court when three such colleges of Madhya Pradesh turning away the candidates selected through a combined entrance test and violating the 50:50 sharing ratio in the admission.
The court had on May 27 directed the private unaided medical and dental colleges that it should observe the ratio laid down by it.
However, the Madhya Pradesh government and the selected candidates alleged the three colleges Modern Dental College and Research Centre, Indore, R D Gardi Medical College, Ujjain, and People's College of Dental Science and Research Centre, Bhopal, were not complying with the apex court direction.
Taking note of the allegations, a Bench headed by Chief Justice K G Balakrishnan issued notices to them on the petition filed by the state government and some students seeking contempt action.
'There is apparent violation of this court order,' the Bench, comprising Justices P Sathasivam and J M Panchal, said pointing out that 50:50 seat sharing ratio as directed by the court on May 27 has not been complied with.
