Kannur: As part of restructuring higher education curricula, the Kannur University has decided to go ahead with grading system from this academic year in all its affiliated colleges, Vice-Chancellor Michael Tharakan said.
The introduction of grading system should be considered as beginning of restructuring the higher education system rather than a mere change in the evaluation process, Tharakan said.
The University had conducted a workshop on grading system as 50 teachers from various colleges took part in the three- day programme with all stake holders of the Under Graduate education expressing dissatisfaction over the present system. With a view to restructuring curricula, the University had set up a task force in 2006 in which outstanding educationists from other universities were involved, he said.
As part of the restructuring, it has been decided to introduce Grading, Semesterisation, Choice based Course and Credit System and Continuous Evaluation
