The 13th edition of The Hindu Young World Quiz' 11, a Newspaper In Education initiative of The Hindu, kicks off on October 10, starting from Madurai in Tamil Nadu. It will be held in 16 centres across the country, and will be concluded with a grand finale in Thiruvananthapuram on November 14 — Children's Day.

Velammal Education Trust is the title sponsor for the Quiz contest, which will be held in Madurai, Tiruchi, Coimbatore, Salem, Chennai, Puducherry, Tirupathi, Visakhapatnam, Vijayawada, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Mangalore, Hubli, Kozhikode, Kochi, and Thiruvananthapuram (see chart).
Participation is open to school students in Classes VII to IX, and teams must consist of two bonafide students from the same school. A school can send a maximum of four teams. In each centre, the teams will participate in a written preliminary round to decide on the six finalists for the regional round. The finals will be held immediately after the prelims. The winners in each centre will qualify for the final.
The Hindu will arrange for the travel and stay of the outstation teams, along with one adult escort per team, qualifying for the final. The organisers reserve the right to amend the rules as they deem fit.
The regional finals in various centres carry a cash prize of Rs. 15,000 for the winning team. The second prize is Rs. 12,000, the third gets Rs. 10,000, while the fourth, fifth and sixth places get Rs. 2,000 each.
For the grand finale, the first prize carries a cash award of Rs. 50,000, the second prize is Rs. 40,000 and the third, Rs. 30,000. For the fourth, fifth and sixth positions, there will be a cash prize of Rs. 10,000 each.
In addition to the above, there are plenty of other prizes in kind to be won by both the participants and the audience.
The schools are expected to register their teams on the specified dates for each centre. V.V. Ramanan will be the quiz master.
