Orissa govt decided to lift sine die declared in VSS medical college at Burla in the interest of students, who planned to continue their stir demanding action against anti-social elements who created nuisance in their campus recently.
"In the interest of academic career of students and in consideration of requests from various quarters, it has been decided to lift sine die from September 20," state Health minister Prasanna Acharya told reporters after holding a meeting with senior officials.
It was decided to prevent certain elements from entering the campus of VSS Medical College and Hospital, Burla through a prohibitory order under section 144 CrPc, he said.
The minister said steps are being taken to prevent anti-social elements from creating disturbance in the campus by using appropriate preventive measures, while police have taken steps to erect barricades on both sides of the road running through the campus to regulate the entry of visitors.
Adequate police force has been deployed in the campus to maintain law and order and instructions have been given to the medical college Principals and Superintendents to decide their ‘Security Plan and involve students representatives in formulation of the plan, Acharya said
However, despite the government's move the agitating students of VSS medical college, backed by house surgeons, junior doctors and medicos of SCB medical college, Cuttack and MKCG Medical college, Berhampur, said they would continue their stir as their main demands remained unaddressed.
