Autumn Music Festival 2011 hosted by the American Center Kolkata kick-started on September 15 with its Kolkata preliminary round, featuring 10 local acts. In its second season, the festival, earlier known as the Kolkata Music Festival is now bigger and better including preliminary rounds in Shillong and Gangtok in a quest to discover fresh talent.
After scanning through scores of applications from solo musicians and bands, the judges’ panel comprising drummer Gaurab Chatterjee (Lakkhichhara), singer, lyricist, composer Anupam Roy (Autograph), acting director American Center Kolkata, Scott E Hartmann and principal commercial officer American Center Kolkata, Richard R Craig short listed the top ten candidates who performed live at the American Center, Lincoln Room today.
Jeepers Creeper, Mantra, Ifs and Buts, Scarface, Mayukh Chatterji, The Ohm Experience, Hindukush, Snap Dragon, Rangskarsha and Mud Soda Spark took to the stage one after the other. Ifs and Buts bagged the top spot at the Kolkata leg of prelims followed by Mud Soda Spark and Scarface in second and third place respectively. Meet Ifs and Buts next at the AMF 2011 finale on October 20 when they face off against the winners of Shillong and Gangtok.
