The Oberoi Grand Hotel held the Linden US University Fair on September 14. The fair was held for the fifth time in the city. Both students and parents had the opportunity to find answers to all the questions they had in their minds. The admission officials of the American universities were present in the stalls themselves and were approached by the keen students and their parents alike.
This education fair was held by The United States India Educational Foundation (USIEF) in order to encourage higher studies in the US. The fair was open to all and registration was free. There were a total of 19 universities and colleges participating, and each of them with separate stalls welcomed students and parents, answering all of their queries.
The USIEF gives Fulbright Nehru Awards as well, for Indians, as well as for Americans. These are Postgraduate awards, Senior Academic awards and Professional awards. The Universities offer Bachelor’s, Master’s and Doctorate degrees. While some colleges look at the SAT results, some look for higher GPI scores, varying from one university to other.
There are short-term courses, mid-length courses, and long-term courses. The top fields of study are Business and Management, Engineering, Math and Computer Science, Social Sciences, Fine and Applied Arts, Education, Agriculture, and the like. There are a variety of subjects that a student can choose from.
“I think this is one of the best career fairs I have been to. There are so many options and I can actually talk to the officials directly about everything that I would require to pursue the career my parents and I are wishing for me,” says a keen student, currently pursuing an under graduate course. Another student, currently in high school exclaims, “Now I know what kind of marks I need, and I can study accordingly, keeping an aim in my mind.”
