The Plastindia Foundation announced the new categories for the sixth edition of the ‘Plasticon Awards’ to be held on February 1, 2012 at Hotel Le Meridien in New Delhi. The new additions, awards for best entrepreneurship, best under-graduate student/best post-graduate student and best student in research category that have been introduced, are to ensure that entrepreneurs and student are also given priority.
The Plasticon Awards have been a symbol of excellence and innovation in plastics and the award function, in its sixth edition is open to all India-based organisations. Two awards will be presented in each category, a winner’s award and a runner’s-up award. The award entries will be accepted till October 30, 2011 and the awards function will be the curtain raiser event of Plastindia Exhibition 2012, the eighth International Plastics Exhibition and Conference.
Dr Prakash Trivedi, chairman, Plasticon Awards Committee, said, “The Plasticon Awards are the most prestigious awards for the plastics industries, practicing professionals and students. The list of awards covers almost the entire field of plastics. The entries will be screened by specially appointed jury members, who are well-known experts in a variety of fields related to plastics and related industries. The awards are sponsored by industries and institutions, which are nearly household names for plastics professionals.”
Ashok Goel, president, Plastindia Foundation, said “Plastindia over the years has grown to become the second largest fair in plastics in the world, attracting participants from around 40 countries. The plastics industry is one of the fastest growing industries in India with a vital role to play in all aspects of India economy. Unprecedented growth in all sectors is expected in the next two to three years with increased per capita usage of plastics and employment generation.”
Plastindia Foundation creates an international platform for the Industry to come together and explore avenues of diversification and growth. This exhibition, held every three years, witnessed around 1500 exhibitors during Plastindia 2009, which included around 500 overseas exhibitors from more than 35 countries. The most remarkable progress made by the Indian plastic processing industry – Proplast was one of the key highlights.
