The All India Engineering Entrance Examination (AIEEE) will be conducted online also from 2012. This is part of the Central Board of Secondary Examination's efforts to upgrade the examination system by making the process less cumbersome.
This decision has been taken after the success of the online exam held on a pilot basis last year, and to give students a flexible schedule. The CBSE will conduct the online examination from May 7 to 25 in 22 cities: Hyderabad, Vijayawada, Visakhapatnam, Chandigarh (Mohali/Panchkula), Delhi/NCR (except Faridabad), Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Ernakulum, Trivandrum, Bhopal, Mumbai, Jalandhar, Jaipur, Chennai, Dehra Dun, Lucknow, Noida, Kolkata, Allahabad, Bhubaneswar, Kota and Nagpur.
The offline examination will be held on April 29 at the remaining 68 centres across the country.
Students taking the online examination will be given a concession of Rs.150-300 in fees. A mock test software will be uploaded on the CBSE website in December to enable students to acquaint themselves with the online examination, a CBSE release said here on Tuesday.
The CBSE has decided to accept applications only in online mode and no physical form will be sold. This is to ensure availability of forms through the CBSE/AIEEE website. The examination fee will be accepted through credit/debit cards or demand drafts. For filling online applications, a facilitation centre will be opened in every city from where physical forms were sold in the past.
