With a special focus on developing and nurturing micro, small and medium enterprises, Bharathidasan Institute of Management (BIM), a School of Excellence of Bharathidasan University, has started a Consulting Group to render business consultancy services to organisations. The Consulting Group promises robust guidance on strategy building, finance, marketing, operational excellence and HR solutions.
Strategic solutions to enhance stakeholder value will be suggested based on macro-environment, clients' business models, vendors, customers and processes.
The BIMCG will provide world class business insights, analytical tools, and frameworks, and a concrete road map to help organisations make the right decisions at the right time, according to R.Subramanian, Chairperson, BIMCG.
Prospective clients are to be initiated into effective financial management systems through financial planning, budgetary control systems, cost management, taxation, financial restructuring, and valuation.
Marketing guidance will be offered in the areas of market segmentation, market penetration, pricing, branding, distribution, logistics, communication management, and revenue management. And operational excellence will be achieved through emphasis on supply chain, productivity, quality, and energy conservation. Improvements in performance management system, organisation structure, and training and development will constitute HR solutions, Dr. Subramanian said.
The need of MSMEs, which account for 45 per cent in manufacturing, 40 per cent in exports, and has 4.2 crore manpower strength, in the area of management guidance, has largely remained unmet. Students will acquire skills and knowledge from the Consulting Group constituting a pool of experts, he said, adding that mutual benefit will accrue from the pricing of services by the Consulting Group based on the savings the MSMEs will be able to make by achieving core competency with the expert guidance.
The Executive Director of BHEL, Tiruchi, A.V.Krishnan, inaugurated the BIMCG in the presence of BHEL Small Industries' Association president Rajappa Rajkumar.
Mr. Krishnan explained how expert guidance will help ancillary industries.
Initiated by BHEL as a social obligation in 1969 to develop skills of entrepreneurs with hand-holding , the outsourcing concept has now transformed into a strategy for competition, assuming the proportion of a parallel industry.
The canvas has widened to encompass automation for quality, planning and delivering output and handling logistics, Mr. Krishnan said, explaining that the need has arisen for SMEs to adopt management concepts for internal resource management, and to leverage ICT, to sustain competitiveness.
