Minister of state for external affairs E Ahamed today assured that the Central University would be started only in Kasargod district, in the wake of agitations it was likely to be shifted to other districts.
Speaking to mediapersons after visiting the site allotted for the university at nearby Periya, he said work on the university would start once the land was made available. About 310 acres of land had been spotted for the project.
Ahamed said he would discuss with the Chief Minister Oommen Chandy and revenue minister Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan to take steps to hand over the land at the earliest.
Some organisations had resorted to agitation following rumours that the university was likely to be shifted to some other districts.
