The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), which is being set up in Rishikesh, will start functioning from February next year.
"AIIMS will start functioning from February next year and a total of 100 students will get an opportunity to pursue an MBBS course from the first year," said Subhash Kumar, Chief Secretary of Uttarakhand.
Chairing a meeting of the committee set up to monitor the progress of work related to AIIMS, he said the construction of residential buildings had already been completed.
The state government was extending all possible help for early completion of the medical institute, Kumar said.
"The 960-bed hospital is being constructed on 76 acres of land and the residential campus is spread in an area of 25 acres," he said.
