Health Ministry notice to MGR Medical varsity

The Health Ministry issued a notice to Tamil Nadu MGR Medical University, whose staff allegedly threatened to take action against students who had complained about sudden shifting of their exam centre to Guindy from DD Medical College.

Sube Singh, Deputy Secretary, Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, in a letter to the Vice Chancellor of the University, sought his comments on the complaint from the students on the issue for taking necessary action.
 
In the letter, copy of which was made available to the media here, Singh said the ministry received a telegram from the students of DD Medical College and Hospital, stating  that the University authorities suddenly changed the examination centre from DD Medical College to Guindy.
 
"The students also stated that the change of venue of the examination centre caused lot of trouble to them. Therefore, they could not write the examination properly on August 8, 2011," Singh said in the letter.
 
The students also alleged that the staff of the University had threatened and blackmailed them and requested the ministry to take immediate action against the University authorities.
 
"It is therefore, requested to kindly furnish your comments to this ministry for taking necessary action," Singh said.
