West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said she plans to create an 'employment bank' where students and youths offering voluntary service for two years will be enrolled and given jobs.

Outlining her plan, she said she would create a 'students brigade' in January comprising students and youths who would offer voluntary service in cities and villages for two years.

"They will automatically be enrolled in an employment bank from where unemployed youths and students will be provided jobs by the state government. Everybody will get a job," she told a rally of Trinamool Chhatra Parishad, the party's student wing, here.

Announcing that her government had fulfilled most of its commitments in only 90 days, Banerjee said, "The land of Singur is with us, but we cannot hand it over to owners because there is a case. Once the case is over, we will hand over the land to them."

"We have created employment opportunities for 2.31  lakh people among which are 46,000 teachers and given recognition to 10,000 Madrasas. Of the 46,000 teachers, there are 18,000 who teach in Alchiki language," she added.
