Tibetan spiritual leader the Dalai Lama will be conferred with an honorary doctor of letters degree by the Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) at its 24th convocation next month.
The convocation will be held on September 5 at the university's main campus at Maidan Garhi here, the IGNOU said in a release.
"On the same day the Dalai Lama will be awarded the degree of doctor of letters (Honoris Causa)," it said.
More than one lakh students are expected to receive their degrees during the convocation which will be organised simultaneously in 44 regional centres across the country, it said.
