The CII Young Indians Team of XLRI, Jamshedpur, seeks to provide a platform for young minds to engage in Nation building initiatives. These include socially relevant developmental projects in the areas of education, employability, youth affairs and health. Established in 2008, it already boasts of having undertaken several initiatives to further its mission.
‘Kshitij’, one of CII Yi’s flagship events, aims at discovering the hidden potential of those less privileged students whose talents lie dormant within them due to the lack of opportunities and encouragement. It is a full day inter-school competition where these children get an opportunity to showcase their talent. It is an important initiative to boost confidence among them, and to encourage them to always strive for improvement in their lives.
The Tinplate Company of India Ltd (TCIL), a TATA Enterprise, was the Title Sponsor of Kshitij 2011. Tata Steel and ITC also supported the event. Encouraged by the resounding success last year, ‘Tinplate Kshitij 2011’ was bigger and better by the increased participation of around 400 students from over 25 Schools. Cash Prizes worth more than Rs 25000 and Certificates were given out to the winners. The inauguration ceremony was graced by the presence of various stalwarts of the Industry like James Davis, Chief Corporate Services, TCIL, Dr Pranabesh Ray, dean XLRI, Fr Antony Uvari, associate dean, XLRI, Anil Oran, Tata steel, and others.
Tarun Daga, managing director, TCIL, the chief guest for the closing ceremony of Kshitij 2011 distributed the prizes for the best performances. Cash Prizes and certificates were distributed to the winner, first runner up and second runner up of all the events (Quiz, Painting, Singing (Solo and group), Dancing (Solo and group)).
