The UK is very competitive — both for tuition fees and living costs — according to a study by the UK Higher Education International Unit published recently. Eight out of 10 higher education students in UK also give their courses top marks, finds a survey published by the Higher Education Funding Council for England in August 2011.
Higher Education Funding Council for England conducted the 'National Student Survey' 2011 amongst students at higher education institutions and further education colleges in the UK. Around 265,000 final-year students from the UK, EU and other international students responded this year, from 154 higher education institutions and 99 further education colleges from across the UK.
Sally Goggin, director education at British Council India said: “This survey is fantastic news for international students considering studying in the UK. The results show that students are in general very satisfied with the quality of their UK course and teaching. There are some areas for improvement, however UK colleges and universities are listening to their students and striving to improve standards."
International students from non-EU countries can breathe a sigh of relief as the planned rise in tuition fees will only affect students from the UK and EU. Students from India will not be affected by the hike.
The UK HE International Unit has carried out research into tuition fees for international students at degree level and above at universities in different countries.
