The Uttar Pradesh government assured that an inquiry will be conducted into alleged irregularities in the education department schemes in the state.
The issue was raised in the Legislative Council by a Teachers Group through adjournment motion during the Zero Hour. The group alleged that Rs 56 crore were embezzled by an officer in the name of constructing boundary walls of schools in Mathura district.
The members also alleged that in Agra similar irregularities were committed in construction of boundary walls, dress of students and mid day meals under Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan.
They demanded a high-level inquiry into funds being received under the scheme.
Leader of the House Swami Prasad Maurya assured that an inquiry would be conducted and stern action would be taken against those found guilty.
