Mathematics, B.Sc. Computer Science, and B.Com. B.A. English Literature attracted the largest number of 58 candidates followed by B.Sc. Mathematics (33), B.Com (32) and Computer Science (25).
The admission process will continue for some more time, since the intake for each programme is 60, university sources said.
One third of the cost of establishing these constituent colleges is to be borne by the Union Government through the University Grants Commission. The university is expected to coordinate with the district collectors to identify land for permanent campuses.
Chief Minister Jayalalithaa while inaugurating these colleges through video conferencing last month exuded hope that the one at Inamkulathur will brighten future for a large number of rural students in her Srirangam Assembly segment.
The college functions temporarily from a building on the premises of the Government Higher Secondary School.
