Concerned  over reports of ragging by students of class 9 and 10, the Maharashtra government said it proposed to appoint counsellors in schools.

As many as 6,843 school teachers have been trained to deal with such complaints, Minister of state for Education Fauzia Khan told the Legislative Council.

"Government is contemplating appointing a counsellor in every school and a committee would also be formed in this regard," Khan said.

Issues like behavioural disorder, hyper activeness have been found and there is a need to study all these aspects, she said.
