From 2011 onwards, Common Admission Test (CAT) scores conducted by the Indian Institutes of Managements (IIMs) will carry an expiry date.
2011 CAT scores, for aspirants making it into one of the 13 IIMs or 100-odd B-schools across India will be valid only until December 31, 2012.
After December 31, 2012, no candidate will be able to download the scorecard from the CAT website.
Earlier, CAT scores had a validity period of 1 year.
CAT 2011 will be conducted across 36 cities during a 20-day testing between October 22, 2011 and November 18, 2011. Thereafter, the scores will be announced on January 11, 2012.
Janakiraman Moorthy, CAT 2011 convenor told that, a validity period was a necessity as IIMs keep receiving requests for scorecards from candidates. Legally, too, it would be better to openly state the date beyond which scores are not valid, he said.
CAT candidates will have to shell out more this year. IIMs hiked the fee for CAT vouchers to Rs 1,600 from Rs 1,400. SC/ST candidates fees have been hiked by Rs 100 to Rs 800 this year.
CAT 2011 exams will be conducted between Oct 22 and Nov 18, 2011; Sale of CAT vouchers from Aug 17 to Sept 26, 2011; Registration open from Aug 17 to Sept 28, 2011; CAT 2011 score cards available from January 11, 2012.
