Crossword Bookstore at Elgin Road, Kolkata, hosted the launch of Dr Rekha Shetty’s ‘The Happiness Quotient’. Vijay Singh Bhandari and Vikram Swarup did the honours. The book consists of simple advices for day-to-day lives for every person to be happy in life; for you may excel in life, but is there happiness?
Dr Rekha started with a reading of her book where the two characters - Arvind and Sadhu Mama - meet for the first time. During this meet, Arvind is enlightened with the knowledge that one should love one’s work, and enjoy doing it. While discussing Sadhu Mama in detail, Dr Rekha says, “I did meet a person like him when I used to go to the temple.” So the essence of the book is how to keep yourself happy first. It is like a workbook where you have to answer the questions given.
“I wrote this book because of my keen interest in innovation,” says the author, on being asked the reason for writing this book. “Maybe I will write another book when I meet Sadhu Mama again, asking him for answers.”
A lot of research has gone behind this book, and the happiness movement is a worldwide movement. The Happiness Quotient has been a bestseller for two weeks now, and is a real guide for every person who wishes not just excellence, but happiness as well.
