Distributing free books to college students at a function organised by Jaigopal Garodia Charitable Book Bank, the Anna University Vice-Chancellor said teachers and parents play a crucial role in moulding children as good citizens.
He stressed the importance of hard work, honesty, integrity and involvement for the students to succeed in their endeavors. Dr. Jawahar urged them to develop a positive attitude, concentration and willingness to grab the opportunities for a successful career.
V. Neeraja, a student of Sri Sai Ram Engineering College was presented Jaigopal Garodia Award of Excellence for securing first rank in Anna University. The award comprised a citation, cash prize of Rs.10, 000 and a gold medal.
Those students who benefit from the charitable scheme must repay society by helping others to achieve.
Ashok Kedia, the Trustee of Jaigopal Garodia Vivekananda Vidyalaya Trust said the book bank was established in 2000 and nearly 34,000 students from various colleges have benefited so far.
At least 6,500 students would benefit from the scheme this year. The only condition for distribution of books is that students must return the textbooks after their examination.
