Placements are the most important concern of students passing out of professional courses. Career concerns nag at every learners mind while they opt for a professional course to add value to their year’s of learning.
With the help of increased visibility in the niche market as well as among the decision makers in the corporate world and industry, the performance of placements for the 4th batch of IIM Calcutta’s world-class executive programme, PGPEX has been exemplary.
The first time recruiters were CEB, Lava International, Shapoorji Pallonji Group, ABS, Carestream, Aricent Technologies and Bertling Logistics. The maximum number of offers was made by Cognizant Technology Solutions. Some of the regular valued recruiters were Goldman Sachs, Yahoo, Microsoft, Google, Cognizant, Lava International, PWC, Blue Star, Bertling Logistics, Amazon Consulting, iNautix and Carestream.
The leading companies offered salaries ranging from Rs 15 lakh to Rs 28 lakh. The average and highest salary were Rs 19 lakh and Rs 28 lakh respectively.
Offers have been made and accepted at the level of director, VP and GM. Contrary to last year, this year the number of offers and participation of recruiters were higher with more diversified roles on offer.
The final placement included 37 students. The batch strength was 44, while five students opted out of placement assistance, one student rejoined a PSU with higher responsibility and one was a sponsored student.
A total of 52 offers were made for 37 students, which included four in finance, 12 in consulting, 4 in business development and general management, 16 in IT consulting and telecom, 4 in corporate strategy, 8 in sales and marketing and remaining 4 in other sectors.
The sectors included energy, infrastructure, operations, healthcare, IT, telecom, business consulting, education, logistics and banking. The roles offered ranged from mid to senior level officials with designations like deputy general manager, assistant general manager, principal consultant, senior business development manager and manager.
In keeping with the last year’s trend, this year too, PGPEX placements allowed students to leverage their past work experiences and stay within the same sector or switch sectors.
One student rejected a good offer to join a network security start-up.
