MMM Engineering College, Gorakhpur, has been granted the status of 'an autonomous institute'. The college is celebrating golden jubilee year of its establishment. College principal J P Saini said that the varsity received a letter from the UGC on granting autonomous status to the latter on July 20. The institute is only second to achieve this status among 400 private and 11 government institutions of engineering in the entire state, Saini claimed.
The institute is now free to design its own curriculum. The institute would also be able to run new diploma and certificate courses. The status would also fetch extra funds for research and training projects.
