Coimbatore government college students boycott classes

About 3,000 students of the Government Arts and Science College here today boycotted classes, demanding immediate implementation of Uniform System of Education) (Samacheer Kalvi).

Raising slogans in support of their demand, the students, including girls, also staged a demonstration in front of their college and demanded that the Government act immediately, considering the future of lakhs of students, police said.

The state government has filed a Special Leave Petition in the Supreme Court, challenging the Madras high court order asking it to implement Samacheer Kalvi in schools across Tamil Nadu.
