Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala government has given instructions to the University of Calicut not to take further proceedings against the four professional colleges whose request for affiliation was rejected, Education Minister M A Baby told the assembly today.
The university, while rejecting the request for affiliation, had allowed limited affiliation for students in the 2008-09 batch whose future would not be affected,he said in reply to a submission by Thomas Unniyadan (KC-Mani).
Two engineering colleges and two medical colleges were not granted affiliation as it had been found that they had violated an agreement signed in 2005 with the then UDF government that they would abide by the norms set for admission and fee structure, Baby said.
The government had told the university that there should be space for talks with the managements and should not rush with further proceedings on the matter.
The admissions to the next academic year would also be not affected by the university's decision
