Bajaj Allianz has concluded the selection process for the Allianz Junior Football Camp in Kolkata and the Northeast. Wilfret Synrem and Aakash Dave from Kolkata, Adarsh Tamang from Darjeeling have been selected amongst the four youngsters to represent India in the Allianz Junior Football Camp. The 25 finalists were from West Bengal, Orissa, Sikkim, and other northeastern states, and selected on the basis of their superior football skills.
Subimal ‘Chuni’ Goswami, former Indian captain and Bernard Oparanozie, Mohun Bagan’s former star Nigerian defender, felicitated the winners.
Other dignitaries present at the event were Anjan Kumar Mitra, general secretary, Mohun Bagan Athletic Club; Kalyan Chaubey CEO - Mohun Bagan Academy, former Indian international goalkeeper.
The selection process in Kolkata saw over 25,000 students from over 300 schools taking part across the east and northeast of India.
These three students will join Evaristo Fernandes from Goa for the international Allianz Junior Football Camp to be held in Munich, Germany from August 17 onwards.
Allianz Junior Football Camp 2010 is being held in association with FC Bayern Munich in Munich, Germany. Fifty teenagers from across the world between the ages of 14-16 years would be given the opportunity to practice with the FC Bayern Munich coaches on the club’s official training ground, attend a match at Allianz Arena and meet football stars from FC Bayern Munich, many of them who represented Germany in the FIFA World Cup.
