The Pimpri Chinchwad municipal school board and the Regional Transport Office (RTO) will prepare an action plan for time-bound implementation of the student transportation rules in the municipal limits.
Education officer Vishnu Jadhav said, “A joint meeting of civic and RTO officials will be held in 10 days wherein an action plan for time-bound implementation of the new rules will be decided. The PCMC school board will later issue a circular to all the schools in the municipal limits giving directions to implement this action plan and give a specific period in which the schools have to form transport committees.”
Jadhav said that the new transportation rules were vast and cannot be implemented at one go. As a result, the action plan will contain the list of rules which have to be implemented in various phases.
The PCMC, deputy RTO Pimpri Chinchwad, Jitendra Patil, and the traffic police held a workshop for schools, parents and bus operators at Chinchwad on Saturday which was attended by representatives of around 150 municipal and private schools. Students who had won slogan, drawing and essay competitions held by the PCMC and the RTO in January as part of the traffic safety week were given prizes.
