Chaos reigned at the railway exam centre in Cosmopolitan School after a candidate was allegedly caught cheating. The examination for the post of assistant station master was held by the Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) of Mumbai on Sunday.
The accused, Rajkumar Patil, who had walked into the exam hall half an hour after the scheduled time, allegedly had photocopies of three booklets on his person. Besides, candidates present in the same hall said the supervisor had allowed Patil a grace period of 10 minutes.
Priya Patil, who wrote her exam in the same hall, said, “It was only when other candidates protested, that the supervisor took away his paper, and that’s when the photocopies were spotted.”
Another student said the copies Patil had were of different colour codes, meaning that he could have procured the question papers. “We demand that this be investigated by the Railways,” the student said.
Chairman of RRB Mumbai, B K Dadabhoy, emphasised that there no way the multiple choice question paper could have been leaked. “There are four different sequences for each colour-coded paper and questions are jumbled. We are waiting for the police to complete their investigation,” said Dadabhoy.
Senior Police Inspector from DN Nagar police station Vijay Kumar Bhoithe said an FIR has been registered.
