The Ministry of Human Resource Development has embarked on a mission to offer students courses on employment potential through vocational subjects, a top government official said.
The mission National Education Vocational Courses framework helps students learn vocational subjects from class VIII onwards.
"Currently, MHRD is ready with the draft (for the mission). A pilot study is being done in schools in Haryana," Prime Minister's Advisor in the National Skill Development Council, S Ramadorai, told reporters here.
Asked about more number of students becoming unemployed after failing to meet industry's expectations, he said "there is always an opportunity and challenge in it".
He said 93 per cent of those employed in India are in the unorganised sector and the rest in the organised sector.
Earlier, inaugurating the Master Resource Centre of city-based Everonn Education Ltd, aimed at honing the skills of trainers, he said the company's objective of training 15 million students was welcome.
"But it will be satisfactory only if they become employable. We need to see the outcome (from students after getting trained from MRC) than inputs given to them," Ramadorai said.
