State universities in Uttar Pradesh will have a common minimum curriculum for 67 subjects from the next academic session, an official said.
"In an important meeting of secretary higher education Avneesh Awasthi with the vice-chancellors of universities yesterday a consensus was reached on having a common minimum course for 67 subjects," he said here.
It was decided that subjects for which amendments or suggestions from board of studies have been received common curriculum would be implemented from the academic session 2011-12, he said.
For the rest of the subjects common curriculum would be introduced from the academic session 2012-13, he said.
In a meeting held on June 30, 63 subjects for common curriculum were identified in which modern art, home science and law were added with the consent of the vice-chancellors.
During the meeting it was decided that a coordination committee would be constituted to consider suggestions and amendments proposed by the board of studies, the official said.
To conduct a joint admission test for Phd it was decided to constitute a coordination committee headed by vice-chancellor of Faizabad university, R C Saraswat and its next meeting would be held on August 12, he said.
