A toll free land line facility has been installed in the Police Control Room here for students to lodge complaints or provide information on ragging in any form in their campuses.
The 24X7 Anti Ragging Helpline toll free number is 826565656 and those calling in need not reveal their identity while providing information, a police release said.
Anti Ragging Committees, comprising the jurisdiction police officer, principals, RDO/Thasildar, representatives of faculty members, parents and students, belonging to first year and seniors and non-teaching staff have also been formed in colleges which would meet frequently.
If ragging takes place in any of the campus, the college management should be immediately be informed to institute a preliminary inquiry and take follow up measures based on its outcome. If the incident is serious, then the criminal law would be set in motion, the release said.
The essence of Ragging Act, in the form of bullet points, would be displayed on notice boards of colleges and also in places of prominence, the release said.
