AIADMK's key ally and Opposition leader Vijaykanth asked the state government to come out with a white paper on education and implement the High Court verdict on Uniform System of Education in the absence of an alternative.
"It is an irrefutable fact that the previous DMK government's common syllabus system further weakened quality of education in the state. Various reports have indicated that quality of education in the state is not up to the mark," he said in a statement here.
Insisting that common syllabus was not a solution to quality education, he said the present government, should consult all stakeholders, including academicians and experts.
"All details should be gathered and presented as white paper in the Assembly. Further, all stakeholders and political parties should be consulted by the government to come out with a Comprehensive Educational Reform Act," he said.
