ECube Global College of Engineering, Mumbai, is the first college in India to have a strategic tie-up with a foreign university. Its association with Newcastle University, UK, allows Ecube to teach courses taught in its overseas counterpart. For the first time, students can complete one year of education in India at Ecube and then take a transfer to Newcastle to complete their Bachelors or Masters degree. The name ECube is an acronym for enlighten, enrich and empower.
It aims at being a centre of distinction imparting education to meet the career development ambitions of students, bearing in mind the demands of a changing global environment. Certificate programmes at the ECube Global College are in Computing Science, Electronic Engineering and Mechanical Engineering. These are similar to courses taught at the Newcastle University in its first year as well. The certificate programme qualifies one to move on to Newcastle University for one's second and third year.
Some of the benefits of attending ECube are:
It reduces the overall cost of taking a degree at Newcastle in these subjects by one year (an estimated overall saving of £20,000/living costs). Being an ECube Global College student, the university will award a scholarship of £3,000/year to each student, which will be used to reduce the university fees when at Newcastle. Course material and relevant faculty is appointed and approved by Newcastle. It reduces the period spent overseas from three years to two years for a Bachelors (Honours degree) and four years to three years for a Masters in Engineering (Honours degree). It facilitates a gradual transition to an overseas university at an older age. From experience, this reduces personal and academic issues, which can affect the completion of a degree.
