The Madras High Court directed Additional Solicitor General of Tamil Nadu to produce before it by tomorrow the minutes of the meeting of committee members that drafted a report on Uniform System of School Education.

The counsel for petitioners argued that the members of the committee did not get enough time to reflect their views and suggestions on the draft, as the committee met only for 15 hours in three days.

On hearing the argument, a pision bench comprising Chief Justice M Y Eqbal and Justice T S Sivagnanam, ordered the Additional Solicitor General to file minutes of the committee meeting that drafted the report to the court by tomorrow.

A nine-member committee headed by Chief Secretary was constituted on Uniform System of School Education on the directions of the Supreme Court and it had submitted its report and recommendations on 5 July.

The report stated that the committee is of the unanimous view that the textbooks cannot be used for 2011-12 academic year as they require 'lot of changes to provide quality education'.

The Chief Justice also made a oral observation that the case should be completed by this week.

The 'Samacheer Kalvi Thittam' or the Uniform System of School Education was formulated by previous DMK government.
