Recruitment process for 22,500 primary and secondary school teachers in Jharkhand was on, Principal Secretary of Human Resource Department of Government of Jharkhand, Mridula Sinha said.
The process to fill 18,000 primary teachers and 4,500 secondary teachers in Jharkhand has already began and recruitment of teachers will be done soon, Sinha, who was in the steel city to participate in foundation stone laying ceremony for Mid-day Meal Initiative at Bistupur, said.
Admitting shortage of teachers in the state, she said the recruitment will be done through Jharkhand Academic Council.
Earlier, addressing the gathering on the occasion of foundation stone laying ceremony of the Mid-day meal Initiative, Sinha said the government had plan to cover all the 45,000 schools including 5,000 aided schools under the mid-day meal programme to encourage poor children to continue their studies.
Jharkhand has Rs 850 crore annual budget for the mid-day meal programme with a sole motive to provide children quality food as this would also attract poor children to enroll their names and get educated.
The state was lacking such facility and proper implementation of the programme as well as studies of the children remained a challenge for the state as several teachers got engaged to ensure supply of meals.
However, the initiative will not only ensure quality food to the children but also help teaches to focus on teaching, she added.
