The United Democratic Front (UDF) government is trying to find a permanent solution to the self-financing professional colleges issue in the State, Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) president Ramesh Chennithala has said.
Talking to mediapersons here on Thursday, he said the UDF government had been considering three issues, namely, social justice, affordable fees, and viable running of institutions.
“The State government is not for confrontation with the managements. It will try its best to solve the problem through talks. The government should not be deemed weak for this,” he said when asked why the government had been taking a soft stance.
Replying to a question on the move to reinstate Inspector-General of Police Tomin J. Thachankary, he said, “we are not here to protect any guilty officer. The government will not withdraw cases against such people. Here, the suspension of the officer is coming to an end and the government intended to take him back.”
The KPCC president inaugurated a meeting of the district congress committee and the office-bearers of its feeder organisations.
He also inaugurated a function organised by the State Employees and Teachers Organisation.
