The need to impart quality education to all scheduled caste and scheduled tribe students of the state was stressed by Assam Minister of State (Independent) for Welfare of Plain Tribes and Backward castes Rajib Lochan Pegu.
Speaking at the ceremonial distribution of computer sets to the computer trained Scheduled Caste students, the Minister said that his department was taking all steps to find out new avenues for training of the SC students in various innovative streams to ensure their self employment.
The Directorate of Scheduled Caste Welfare have provided Computer training to altogether 800 SC students since 2006 and this year computer sets will be provided to 600 trainees out of the total.
