AICTE approves nine more Engineering colleges in TN

Chennai: Nine more self-financing engineering colleges in Tamil Nadu were granted extension of approval for the academic year 2009-10.

The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has approved applications of nine colleges, thus enabling ton admit students for engineering courses.

Although these colleges were put on pending category, however, after a review, it decided to grant extension of approval to the nine colleges.
 
According to senior official, altogether nine colleges have 3,580 seats in undergraduate engineering degree (BE/BTech) programmes. After addition of these seats, the total seats in BE / BTech courses in all the engineering colleges with up to date approvals in Tamil Nadu has gone up to 1,31,516.
 
The nine institutions whose approval has been extended by the AICTE this year include Sri Ramakrishna Engineering College in Coimbatore, CMS College of Engineering in Namakkal, Madha Engineering College near Chennai, P T Lee Chengalvarya Naicker College of Engineering in Kancheepuram, P B College of Engineering in Sriperumbudur, Dr G U Pope College of Engineering in Thoothukudi, Jayaraj Annapackiam CSI College of Engineering in Thoothukudi, Kurinji College of Engineering and Technology in Trichy, and Udaya School of Engineering in Kanyakumari.
