The nine-member expert committee set up to review the syllabus and textbooks for rolling out the uniform education system in Tamil Nadu told the Madras High Court that the syllabus cannot be used in the current academic year. The Tamil Nadu government had constituted the committee on the orders of apex court on June 15.
The expect committee's report was submitted to the court by Advocate General Navaneetha Krishnan. The panel found grammatical errors in the text books and some lessons were difficult for all the students to understand. The panel also said that the syllabus was prepared in a hurry.
The court had ordered continuance of uniform education system for classes I and VI and the committee was asked to submit its report by July 6 to the high court which would hear the case daily and decide it in a week's time.
The uniform education system is the common syllabus for students and the state board brought in by the erstwhile DMK government.
However, the AIADMK government decided to put on hold the implementation of the system.
