“Schools should abide by the fee structure stipulated by the Private Schools Fee Determination Committee. The Directorate is looking into the complaints received from parents about schools charging excess fee,” said K. Devarajan, Director, Directorate of Matriculation Schools.
Speaking to The Hindu on the sidelines of the inauguration of Sindhi Model Matriculation School here on Friday, Mr. Devarajan said that the Directorate has convinced managements of many schools that they have to follow the fee structure prescribed for them by the Committee.
“Can appeal again”
“If schools are unhappy they can appeal once again, but until then they have to follow what the Committee has stipulated for them,” he said. Mr. Devarajan said that last week a section of parents of 10-15 schools had complained and the issue was sorted. He said parents can complain to the Directorate if schools were charging excess fee than what is prescribed, but they should not agitate or protest outside schools. Nandlal Pokardas, Chairman, Sindhi Model Matriculation School Management Committee, said the new school located in Chetpet is the third educational institution run by the Sindhi Educational Society (Madras).
“The school is fully equipped with all facilities a school should have,” he added. He said that in the limited time, the school enrolled over 100 students, but the school can accommodate 1,100 students.
B. Sujatha, principal of Sindhi Model Matriculation School, said that school will set new standards.
Rajalal Nichani, secretary of the Management Committee, R. Kishore Kumar, senior principal, St. John's International Residential School and Arundhathi Mohan, former principal of Sindhi Model Senior Secondary School spoke.
