Chandra new V-C of Meerut University

Governor and chancellor BL Joshi has appointed Hemchandra Gupta, deputy director (Admn) and professor of physics, Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi as vice-chancellor of Chaudhary Charan Singh University, Meerut for a period of three years.

CSMMU prof honoured: Head of pulmonary medicine department, Chhatrapati Shahuji Maharaj Medical University (CSMMU), Prof Rajendra Prasad, has been conferred Dr Reddy's Lung Cancer award. Presented by Indian Society for Study of Lung Cancer, the award acknowledges Prof Prasad's contribution in the field of Lung Cancer caused by smoking. The award was given away at the inaugural function of fourth annual conference of the Indian Society for Study of Lung Cancer (NALCON) at Indore. This oration award carries a medal and cash prize of Rs 25,000.

Inaugurated: Secretary, Union ministry of labour and employment Prabhat Chandra Chaturvedi inaugurated the sub regional office of Employees State Insurance Corporation in Lucknow recently. This sub regional office which is functioning since May 1 has about 1.10 lakh insured employees and more than four lakh beneficiaries are availing the services.
