Considering the gravity of allegations levelled against university lecturers, the 'Sexual Harassment Cell' committee has been directed to probe the case in the light of Supreme Court guidelines on harassment at work place.
They have been given 15 days to complete the probe and submit the report to V-C. "Our team has already started the investigation. We are looking into facts related to the case," said Asha Kaushik, head of cell/committee.
Earlier, the police have produced Singhal at a local court and got a police remand till July 1. Police added that role of other lecturer Dholia would also be investigated. "During the remand we will find if there was any connivance of Dholia in this case as complained by victim in the FIR," said Mahendra Singh, deputy commissioner of police (East) told TOI on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, different students groups also protested against the incident and staged staged demonstration at the university and its constituent colleges. Students' bodies including NSUI, ABVP and SFI demanded strict action against the guilty teachers.
President, Rajasthan University Students Union, Manish Yadav, said, "It seems lack of coordination among different bodies like sexual harassment cell, woman helpline and university administration resulted in rising harassment cases."
