What can give children greater joy than a beauty queen with a glittering crown and a big smile giving away prizes to them in their own school. This is precisely what happened at the Heritage School campus in Anandapur on June 9 when Mrs India International 2011, Richa Sharma, a primary school teacher and mother of a nine year old gave away prizes at a charitable event to the underprivileged children of Suryakiran School.
Suryakiran School was set up on September 8, 2006, the day which is commemorated as World Literacy Day fulfilling the educational needs of children who are less privileged. Richa Sharma has been associated with this school for more than five years in the capacity of a teacher. When the beautiful teacher entered the school campus, faces of the little children lit up with joy. Sharma distributed school uniforms, bags, books, and stationary to the school children in the presence of Seema Sapru, the principal of the school, Meenakshi Atal, vice principal, and Commander S Dey, the campus administrator.
Born and brought up in Kanpur, Richa Sharma shifted base to the City of Joy after her marriage to a city industrialist. On multi-tasking, being a mother, wife, teacher and now a beauty queen she says, “My family has always been very supportive. And to go ahead in life one needs to be honest and give one’s best in whatever one does. Only then will it give absolute meaning to the task chosen.” She is all set to represent India in a national pageant in Chicago to be held in July. Her mantra for success “Be yourself” is sure to take her and those who seek inspiration through her far in life.
