Admission begins at Manipal college of Medical Sciences

Manipal College of Medical Sciences (MCOMS) Pokhara, Nepal began admissions to its MBBS degree for the batch commencing in August 2011.

Admissions are based on merit; and to be eligible for this programme applicants should have at least 50% marks in Physics (P), Chemistry(C), Biology (B) and English (E); 50% in inpidually each subject and put together (PCB & PCBE) and a minimum aggregate of 50% marks at the 10+2 or equivalent examination.

However, no entrance examination will be conduct. Candidates should be 17 years of age on or before 31st July, 2011.

The last date for submission of applications is 20th June.

Established in 1994, Manipal College of Medical Sciences (MCOMS), Nepal is a joint collaboration between Manipal Group and the Government of Nepal. Affiliated to the Kathmandu University, MCOMS is recognized across the world for its high standards of excellence and is rated as Nepals institute of choice.

MCOMS has been accorded recognition by the Medical Councils of Nepal, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Mauritius, besides being accredited by the California Medical Boards & New York State Medical Board. The college is listed in the 7th edition of the WHOs world directory of accredited medical schools and the International Medical Education Directory of Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) which holds the United States Medical Licensing Exam. MCOMS is also recognized by the British Columbia & Ontario Student Assistance Program (BCSAP & OSAP), Canada.

The four and a half year MBBS course is pided into nine semesters, each six months in duration. On successful completion of the 4 ½ year MBBS degree course students will have to undergo one year of compulsory residential rotating internship.

All Indian national students seeking admission at MCOMS and who are interested in practicing in India on graduation will be required to obtain an eligibility certificate from the Medical Council of India prior to their enrollment at MCOMS. They will also have to clear the screening test, post obtaining their degree certificate, in order to practice upon their return to India.

Located in Pokhara, a scenic location 200 km west of Kathmandu, MCOMS has an influx of students from India, SriLanka, Malpes, Bangladesh, Singapore, Middle East, Kenya, Australia, New Zealand, United States & Canada. MCOMS functions from two campuses. The Deep campus spread over 8 acres of wooded land, houses the basic sciences departments, hostels and other facilities for Basic Sciences students. The 30-acre Phulbari campus has the 825 bed Manipal Teaching Hospital (MTH), clinical teaching departments and hostels for clinical students.
